Discovering the Materials of Tomorrow | Webinar 5 - A journey into materials research and science at Alma Mater Studiorum - Universitá di Bologna

Join us for the fifth webinar in our series, where we explore the journey into materials research and science at Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, led by two esteemed researchers.

Our first speaker, Associate Professor Marco Giorgetti, will provide insights into materials research at Università di Bologna. His research focuses on the structural and electronic characterisation of materials and solutions using core-level spectroscopies, as well as materials for batteries. He has pioneered the in-situ characterisation of energy materials using X-ray absorption techniques.

Next, Associate Professor Matteo Gherardi will present his research on non-destructive processes for creating functional surfaces by means of plasma at atmospheric pressure and femtosecond lasers. His scientific work centres on developing innovative plasma technologies and their applications, particularly in surface processing. Gherardi's expertise lies in plasma engineering and physics, encompassing the design, manufacturing, and optimisation of plasma systems and processes, as well as plasma diagnostics and modelling, covering both equilibrium and non-equilibrium plasmas at atmospheric or sub-atmospheric pressures.
