Join us for the first Una Europa PhD Slam!

Eight Una Europa PhD students will present their research in a 7-minute slam, focusing on the broad concept of sustainability. The public will vote for the three winners, who will win a prize of €1,000 for first place and €500 each for second and third place. An academic support team will issue feedback on demand after the event.

Public Science Slam via livestream

The PhD Slam is organized by Freie Universität Berlin in collaboration with Una Europa, with support from Berlin Science Week. Furthermore, it will take place at the same time of the yearly conference for the University Alliance in Sustainability. More information here.

This is a digital event that audience members will be able to watch on the Una Europa YouTube channel at the link above. You can also watch the livestream, and have the chance to vote for your favourite PhD Slammer, via Pixelpando. Presenter: André Lampe

Dr. André Lampe, East Westphalian, working-class child, paramedic, physics studies in Bielefeld, poetry slammer, science slammer. PhD 2011-2016 at the FU Berlin in biochemistry on the topic of high-resolution microscopy. Already active as a presenter during his doctoral thesis, on stages and at trade fairs, in front of the camera for YouTube, ZDF and ServusTV – at the latter in the, for adult education awarded, program “TM Wissen” (52 episodes).

Very involved in science communication, participating in the Siggener Kreis and part of the editorial team for the German “Guidelines for Good Science PR”, blogging about microscopes for ScienceBlogs.de, doing guerrilla science communication about ocean and seas in the project “Plötzlich Wissen!” and does the podcast “mal ganz grundsätzlich (mgg)”. In 2018 and 2019, he moderated and designed the Gesundheitsberufetage Berlin together with Berlin Partner.

André gives workshops on “giving good talks”, “science communication”, “storytelling”, “microscopy for beginners” and much more. Since July 2020, he streams live on Twitch with various formats on science communication, including political science, physics, and microscopy.
