Join us this July at Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna to explore your knowledge of AI and its applications in creative domains. Doctoral researchers working in the areas of computer science, engineering, arts, design, law and humanities are warmly invited to apply

The goal of the school is to bring together graduate and PhD students pursuing diplomas in computer science, engineering, arts, design, law or humanities who are eager to expand their knowledge of AI and its applications in creative domains. It is also intended for academics, and creative professionals, who want to incorporate AI tools and techniques into their work and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI and creativity.

Relevant topics include: AI in Literature and Visual Art; AI-Driven Music Composition; AI in Cinema; Computational Creativity; Conditional generation; Copyright and plagiarism ; Deep fake detection; Digital restoration; Emotional AI; Generative Models; Interactive Chatbots; Large Language Models (LLMs); Liability and Accountability; Multi-modal creativity; Privacy, consumer protection; Procedural Content Generation; Representation Learning; Style Transfer.

Am I eligible? How do I apply?

The Artificial Intelligence and Creativity Summer School welcomes applications from doctoral researchers at Una Europa universities from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds.

The application process for the Summer School depends on whether you are from an Una Europa partner university or not:

  • Participants from within Una Europa

All participants from Una Europa universities are invited to contact their local representative(s) for Una Europa's Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Focus Area, to express their interest and explore funding options.

  • Participants from outside Una Europa

Doctoral researchers from non-Una Europa universities who are interested in participating in the Summer School are invited to express their interest to Professor Asperti (andrea.asperti@unibo.it).

What is the cost of the Summer School?

Registration fees for:

  • BIP participants and speakers*: €0
  • Doctoral researchers from Una Europa partner universities: €100
  • Doctoral researchers from institutions outside of Una Europa: €250

The registration fee includes tuition, course material, lunches, welcome and social dinner (other dinners not included), a half day excursion, coffee breaks and transportation from/to Forli train station on 7 and 13 July. The departure time of the bus from Forli train station will be communicated soon.

This activity has been organised under the BIP (Blended Intensive Intensive Programme) format of the Erasmus+ programme. If your university has registered as a partner in this particular BIP programme, you will be exempted from paying any fee and you can also apply for financial support for the travel expenses.

Accommodation information:

  • You will be lodged at the Course Venue (or hotels nearby the course venue if necessary).
  • The rate for a single room occupancy in bed and breakfast is €49 per night.
  • The rate for a double room occupancy in bed and breakfast is €39 per person per night. If you’d like to stay in a double room, please specify in the field note of the registration form and include the name of your roommate.
